Location
La Mata is a charming town with about 9000 inhabitants on the outskirts of the town of Torrevieja, 40 km south along the Mediterranean from Alicante airport.
La Mata beach is Torrevieja’s longest and most popular beach with its approximately 2.5 kilometers. It has been awarded the European Blue Flag for several years in a row. (Highest award for quality).
Large population of Northern Europeans, but also a very popular resort for people from major Spanish inland towns such as Madrid.
La Mata offers a large number of good restaurants, cafes and bars. A large majority of these are open all year round.
Due to local regulation plans and large surrounding natural areas that limit high-rised buildings on large parts of La Mata, many believe that it will retain its status as a gem along the Mediterranean.
In La Mata you will find all necessary services such as shops, banks, doctors’ offices, pharmacies, post offices, etc.
Fantastic hiking areas in the immediate vicinity with the Parque Natural de La Mata and the Laguna Salada, which is a large protected park and lake with a fantastic bird life.
The private hospital Quiron is only 2.5 km away.
If you like shopping, the shopping malls Habaneras and Carrefour are only 4.5 km away, where you will also find activities such as complete sport facilities, bowling, cinema and arcade game center.
The largest shopping center along the coast, Zenia Boulevard, is located 13 km south from La Mata.
